DevLog 03: Out of the prototyping era!
Week 03
Hi everyone, here we are again! This was our final week of prototyping. We firstly finished all of our important documents like our Tech Document, our Art Bible, and our Game Design Document.
We fully wrorte out all naming conventions, file structures, engine choices and more. For us programmers, it was very important to follow all the coding conventions that Unreal has documented. So we wrote out all the importent guidelines and made examples with each of them. This makes it a lot easier for us to check how to use a certain convention.
We also finished our Game Design Document. This contains all specific details about our game, things like mechanics, environment, player controls, ... A lot of important details we all need to be onboard with ;)
This means we can finally go into production with our game idea!
Art
It is official, the Art Bible is finished! We are so proud of our artists who worked endlessly on this piece. Making this gives us a very clear view with what kind of style we are trying to achieve. We want the players to feel like they are sailing on an old, dirty map. Here are some updates on the art bible:
Code
Next to all of this, there is a prototype with our mechanics online right now! It contains the important mechanics of our game and a full game loop.
